Senior Mechanic

• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in vehicles using appropriate diagnostic equipment
• Carry out major and minor vehicle servicing and repairs
• Inspect vehicles before purchase, sale or delivery to customers
• Perform engine, transmission, suspension, braking, steering and electrical repairs
• Supervise and guide junior mechanics and workshop assistants
• Ensure all vehicles are repaired and serviced according to manufacturer specifications
• Conduct road tests and quality checks after repairs
• Identify potential mechanical problems and recommend appropriate corrective action
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, servicing, parts used and vehicle inspections
• Advise management on vehicle condition, repair costs and required replacement parts
• Ensure proper use and maintenance of workshop tools and equipment
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop environment; ensure compliance with safety and quality standards

Qualifications & Experience:

• Degree in Motor Vehicle Mechanics, Automotive Engineering or a related field
• At least 5 years' relevant experience as a motor vehicle mechanic, with proven senior or supervisory experience
• Strong knowledge of modern petrol and diesel vehicles
• Experience using vehicle diagnostic scanners and other automotive diagnostic equipment
• Good knowledge of automotive electrical and electronic systems
• A valid driving licence is an added advantage

• Ability to troubleshoot and repair different makes and models of vehicles
• Ability to supervise and train junior mechanics
• Good communication, organisational and problem-solving skills
• Honest, reliable, hardworking and able to work with minimum supervision
