Sure Pay is hiring a Legal, Risk and Compliance Officer to ensure the company complies with Ugandan law, Bank of Uganda regulations and internal policies, while identifying, monitoring and managing legal, regulatory and business risk.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with Ugandan laws, Bank of Uganda regulations and internal policies.
Identify, monitor and assess legal, regulatory and business risks across operations.
Maintain and update compliance policies, procedures and controls.
Support AML and CFT monitoring and reporting obligations.
Review contracts, agreements and corporate documentation.
Advise management on regulatory changes and their operational impact.
Coordinate regulatory filings and responses to regulators.
Maintain the risk register and compliance incident logs.
Support internal and external audits and regulatory inspections.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a recognised university.
Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre.
Membership of the Uganda Law Society with a valid practising certificate.
3 to 5 years of experience in legal, compliance or risk functions, preferably in fintech, banking or financial services.
Training or certification in compliance, AML/CFT or risk management is an added advantage.

Skills & Competencies:

Knowledge of Bank of Uganda regulatory requirements.
Analytical and risk assessment skills.
Attention to detail in documentation and reporting.
Clear written and verbal communication.
