• Provide technical leadership and supervision of veterinary and animal health services in the district
• Plan, coordinate and monitor disease control, surveillance and prevention programs
• Advise the District Production Department on livestock and veterinary policy matters
• Supervise and build the capacity of subordinate veterinary and animal husbandry staff
• Ensure compliance with national and international animal health standards and regulations
• Prepare technical reports, work plans and budgets for the veterinary function
• Liaise with the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries and other stakeholders on animal health matters

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Medicine or a related field from a recognized institution
• Registration with the relevant professional veterinary body in Uganda
• Relevant working experience in veterinary or animal health services, preferably within the public service

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong leadership and supervisory skills
• Good analytical, planning and report-writing skills
• Sound knowledge of animal disease control and veterinary public health practices
• Ability to work with local government structures and communities
