• Attend the pre-shift briefing and confirm the approved cutting method, maximum entry distance, ground support, ventilation, dust suppression plan, haulage routes and escape routes
• Operate only the specific machine type and model assessed and authorized, including remote-control systems, in the assigned underground area
• Enter or cut only after the competent supervisor confirms the working area is safe; inspect roofs, walls, face, ground support, water and air lines before starting
• Complete and sign the pre-start inspection checklist covering cutting units, boom, gathering head, conveyor, tailpiece, chains, hoses, scrubber, water sprays, gas detector, lights and emergency stops
• Never operate a machine with a serious safety defect: stop it, isolate it electrically, lock it out, tag it and report
• Test and protect the remote-control system, maintaining control of the transmitter and preventing unintended machine movement
• Maintain the exclusion zone around moving machine parts and stop immediately when a person enters
• Work only from the designated safe position with clear visibility, never beside a moving machine or under unsupported ground
• Verify ventilation, curtains, air lines, scrubber and water sprays are in place and working; take required gas measurements and evacuate when ventilation fails or gas reaches action levels
• Sound the horn, control travel speed and coordinate with shuttle cars, trucks and other haulage using approved signals
• Cut only in supervised profiles and approved depths, never removing safety interlocks or reaching into the machine while energized

Qualifications & Experience:

• Relevant operating experience for underground mobile mining equipment (dump truck, continuous miner or LHD/scoop tram); mid-career level
• Authorization and competence assessment on the specific machine type and model as per the company's requirements
