Vice Chancellor

• Spearhead and coordinate the development and review of policies, strategic plans, budgets and other interventions designed to achieve growth, academic and professional excellence in university programs
• Maintain efficiency, effectiveness and good governance of the University as Chief Executive
• Coordinate the effective implementation of strategic management plans and Council decisions
• Direct and supervise the Senior Management Team responsible for the academic, financial and administrative functions of the University and monitor their performance against prescribed targets
• Mobilize internal and external resources necessary for the implementation of University policies, plans and programs
• Oversee the acquisition and effective allocation of resources to University academic bodies and administrative units
• Present the University position and recommendations to Council, and prepare and submit specific reports as instructed
• Direct the implementation of Senate decisions as Chairperson of the Senate
• Represent the University externally to promote awareness of its mission, objectives, policies and programs
• Serve as key spokesperson of the University on all matters

Qualifications & Experience:

• An earned PhD degree from a reputable university
• At the rank of at least Associate Professor
• Excellent record of scholarship, administration, teaching and service to the public of not less than ten (10) years
• Strong record of research, publications and postgraduate supervision
• Experience of senior university or equivalent institution leadership at the rank of at least Dean or Rector for at least four (4) years
• Proven ability in strategic planning, policy development, governance and financial management
• Proven experience in international partnerships, collaborations and networking
